Ghadir Al Khumm

Ghadir Al Khumm is the name of a pool or a bog between Mecca and Medina. At Ghadir Al Khumm, Rasulallah (S.A) publicly designated Ali (S.A) as his successor. The incident of Ghadir Al Khumm occurred shortly before Rasulallahs demise.
When the ceremonies of the pilgrimage were completed, Rasulallah (S.A) attended by Ali (S.A) and the Muslims, left Mecca for Medina. On reaching Ghadir Al Khumm he halted, although that place had never been the halting place for caravans. The reason of the halt was, the verse of Quraan had come upon him to establish Ali (S.A) in the caliphate. Before this Rasulallah (S.A) had received similar messages, but had not been instructed explicitly as to the time of Alis (S.A) appointment. Rasulallah (S.A) had delayed because of the opposition that might occur, if the crowd of pilgrims had gone beyond Ghadir Al Khumm they would have separated and the different tribes would have gone in various directions. This is why Rasulallah (S.A) ordered them to assemble here. Rasulullah (S.A) awaited reassurances from Allah on conveying what was potentially a difficult message to convey. At last, at Gadir-e-Khoom, he received it in the following verse. "O Mohammed, deliver that which has been sent down to you from your lord, for if you do not deliver what you have been asked for than you have not delivered any of the messages. Allah will protect you from men. Allah guides not the people of unbelievers." Summoning strength form these divine words, he openly declared nass on Amirul Mumineen, Maulana Ali (SA)
Because of this positive command to appoint Ali (S.A) as his successor and perceiving that Allah would not countenance further delay, Rasulallah (S.A) and his company dismounted in this unusual stopping place.
The day was hot and Rasulallah (S.A) commanded that they should make a pulpit platform out of packsaddles, Many were standing under the shelter of thorn trees. And when the crowd had gathered, Raslallah (S.A) walked up to the platform and called Ali (S.A) to stand at his right. After a prayer of thanks he spoke to the people, informing them that he had been forewarned of his death, and saying, I shall soon depart to Allah to be concealed from you, and bidding farewell to this world. I am leaving amongst you, the book of Allah and my Itrat. And if you follow this you will never go astray, these both would never be separated until they meet me at the fountain of Kauser.
Rasulallah (S.A) then called out " Am I not more precious to you then your own life? They said, "Yes". Then it was that he took Alis hand and raised them so high that he showed the white of his armpits, and said. " Whoever has me as his Maula has Ali (S.A) as his Maula. O Allah love those who love Ali (S.A) and be an enemy to his enemies. Help those who assist him and frustrate those who oppose him."
After that Rasulallah (S.A) descended from the pulpit and ordered Muslims to go and take the Misaq of Ali (S.A), being the commander of the faithful.
Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A) during one of his visits to Mecca for Haj, also halted is this place and called for an old experienced native. When that native arrived, Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A) asked him about this place. And he assured that this was the place where Rasulallah (S.A) had gathered thousands of Muslims and delivered a speech. Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A) after a careful observation proclaimed that this is the place called Ghadir Al Khumm, where Rasulallah (S.A) had established Ali (S.A) as his successor. When Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A) asked that native about the whole event, he denied and never told anything. Even today there are many sects who deny this event, because they deny Ali (S.A) as the successor and wasi of Rasulallah (S.A). And no doubt what we are witnessing today of their woeful plight, is their denial of Ali (S.A). They dont have a guide who would guide them to the right path.
We Mumineen by following the successor of Ali (S.A) and a Dai, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS) are really fortunate, that we have Moulana (TUS) to guide us, he is the one who assures us of the Jannat. May Allah enhance the umar sharif of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS) till the day of judgement.
Jannat Na ye zaamin che {} yaha bethi e moulana Bus haat si jannat Ni jaagir likhavi lo.
Ameen
